The scientists of ‘Breakthrough Science Society’ - a city-based scientists’ forum - declared at a press meet on Wednesday that ‘Doomsday’ is nothing but a myth and destruction of the world is a rumor created by swindlers to satisfy commercial purposes.

The scientists unanimously agreed that due to changes in the structures of orbits, different planets like Mars might collide with the Earth 300 years from now, which may affect the earth.

“There is no basis for this theory. It’s just a ridiculous rumor. People who are spreading it want commoners to believe it so that they can gain profit out of it,” Dhrubajyoti Mukherjee, president of Breakthrough Science Society said on Wednesday.

Scientists alleged that several fake fortune tellers and astrologers are disseminating this rumor so that they can sell their products like Astro rings, stones and so forth. “These people are distorting a scientific fact as a pseudo-science matter,” Mukherjee added.

“We have heard rumors claiming that this world will come to an end on December 21 as a huge earthquake will ruin the world. But according to science, no earthquake can ruin the entire world. Though its impact can be felt worldwide,” Bengal Engineering and Science University professor Pradip Roy said at the event citing the incident of Sumatra tsunami in 2004.

“People are confusing astrology with astronomy. That’s why they are easily believing this fact and getting scared,” Roy said. He said the abolition of ancient animal species such as dinosaur was caused due to crash down of comets on the Earth. But according to the recent NASA calculations, none of the present comets surfacing on the space can crash on to the Earth’s surface causing the eternal destruction of the planet.

The so-called astrologers are saying and terrorizing the public saying that 21st December 2012 is the last day to our Earth, based on some baseless statements, many news channels are trying to telecast their baseless materials and getting public diversion, nowadays this is the hot topic, if anybody met at streets, first they will discuss on "DoomsDAY". Our good luck is Tsunami came in the year 2004, by chance if it happened on 21st December 2012, then these fake astrologers will have a good opportunity and raise their voice and get more business and stating that due to their Yantra and Mantra nothing happens to India which was given very bad results to other countries, like that and they may say many new things that a common man can easily drop into their net and lose their hard earned money.
