Togo Country Information
Togo, precisely the “Togolese Republic” is an independent state located in the Western Part of the African Continent. The country has a long strip-like shape and is bordered by Burkina Faso towards the North, Ghana towards the West, and Benin towards the East.
The country has a favorable land and climate for agriculture and this is the reason agriculture is thriving in the country. Furthermore, the country is famous for its peaches having palm trees, traditional villages, forests, culture, and markets. Togo is a member of the United Nations (UN), Economic Community of African States, and Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC).
The official and recorded history of modern Togo is only available from the times of European arrival. Little is known about the pre-history of the region.
Archeological evidence found in the area shows that the earlier people did know some of the techniques like making pottery, tools, etc. Also, settlements by these people in the region started in approx. 11th century from the Central African regions.
Some of the known tribes of that time were Gun, Ewe, Mina. Portuguese were the first to discover the region (coastal) and claim it. Portuguese also built forts and garrisons to maintain their presence. From then to almost 200 years onwards, the region provided millions of slaves to different regions of the world. This is the reason the coastal area of Togo was known as “The Slave Coast”.
By the late 19th century, “Scramble for Africa” was started and the regions of Togo became under the occupation of the “German Empire”. The Germans did some efforts for improving the infrastructure of the region but mostly for their own means.
Also, they introduced the cultivation of cocoa, coffee, and cotton and the local population was forced to work on them. The Germans were defeated in the World War 1, and all of their colonies including Togo was either taken by France, British or divided between them. Certainly, Togo was divided between the British and the French and remained under their administration till 1960, when finally, Togo became independent.
The geography of Togo is characterized by hearing touching landscapes, hills, savannas, beautiful beaches, lagoons, marshes, forests, and mangroves. High-population growth has led to many environmental problems like deforestation, soil erosion, and poaching. Many species of animals are declared endangered. Although there are some protected parks and sites, serious and immediate consideration is still need from the government.
Togo has an agriculture-based economy which is aided by manufacturing, mining, and services. Although, the country is one of the smallest in Africa but still enjoys many perks, like development, human development, peace and a growing economy. Main agricultural products include rice, corn, millet, cocoa, coffee, peanuts, beans, etc. Also, the agriculture sector employs around 50% of the total country’s workforce. Main industrial outputs include phosphate, textiles, brewery, cement, handicrafts and food processing.

French is the official language of the country. Another interesting fact about the country is almost half of its population follows traditional African religion. "I contacted Sureshji to consult on our current home. He was spot on in identifying vastu dosha in regards to the problems we were having. He suggested remedies but we are still looking for a new house. Since then I have been in touch with him for finding a right home for us. He is very sincere and truly wishes better lives for everyone. He doesn’t compromise with quality and is always responsive to queries. He recommends solutions as per location as Vastu rules differ for each country. He is greatly contributing to the society with his knowledge of Vastu and dedication towards his work. Keep up the good work Sureshji and wish you success and happiness!" - Megha - Virginia - USA
I have consulted Suresh Garu during December 2014 during the process of buying a house in Texas, USA. I have occupied the house for one year now, and feel like dropping a review regarding my experience during the entire process. I am very much satisfied with the kind of service I received from him. He is very knowledgeable and I was often stunned by his detailed analysis during the course of my interaction with him. He was very much accessible over phone (perhaps more than 10 times for one house plan!) and the price is very much reasonable especially compared with the cost of the house. I noticed his burning desire to help me in making informed decisions on certain things. I have seen some people pretending to know this subject and misguiding those who come for help by saying only what we want to hear. SubhaVaastu is definitely not that one. Finally, I am strong believer of leaving certain things to experts in those subjects. I have been in US for more than 13 years and have seen people doing their own corrections (by reading website articles) trying to save few dollars. Please don’t do that. You would end up in causing more damage. I highly recommend you to engage SubhaVaastu in your next project - Satish - Dallas - TX - USA

Joke Of the Day
Rajesh: Chintu, what would you do if you accidentally stepped on an elderly man's foot?
Chintu: I’d apologize, Dad.
Rajesh: That’s wonderful, son. You’ve made me proud. Now, what if he appreciates your politeness and offers you a chocolate?
