Belarus, officially the “Republic of Belarus” is a sovereign country in eastern Europe. The country is landlocked and was known as “Belorussia” during Soviet times. The backbone of the country’s economy is an industrial sector. The industries were established at the time of USSR and Belarus is good at manufacturing heavy machinery and vehicles. Other major sectors include Energy, Banking, Oil, Natural gas, and Tourism.

Official languages of Belarus are Russian and Belarusian. But Russian is spoken most widely all over the country, accounting for 72% of the total population. Some minorities also speak Polish and Ukrainian.

According to 2011 census, the majority of the population follow Eastern Orthodoxy (48.3%). While 41.1% of its population has no religion.
